Our Legacy

Hamid Daftarian
Everyone at DMD is committed to the legacy of Hamid Daftarian, P.E., founder and vice-president of DMD Engineering & Construction, Inc. Hamid died suddenly on January 3, 2012 of a massive heart attack while visiting his home country, Iran. His professionalism, love of family and friends, and his special smile will live on forever.

Hamid founded DMD in 1993 after working for more than 10 years for engineering and architectural firms throughout Atlanta. He held a Georgia license as a professional engineer and was on the approved list of engineers and third-party engineer inspectors for the majority of municipalities in metropolitan Atlanta.

During his career he performed inspections, designed projects, reviewed drawings, and made recommendations for structural repairs for hundreds of businesses and homeowners. Hamid earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1982.

Most of all Hamid was a visionary with an eye toward bringing professionals together in expert teams that focused attention on the unique needs of individual projects, without the day-to-day concerns of managing a business. His formula sought out projects and then plugged the right team into place, thus reducing upstart and project management costs for the client. Hamid’s management process was dedicated to bringing projects in on time, within budget and with superior quality.

Becoming the engineer his father had always dreamed he would be, Hamid’s greatest passions were his family and friends and the great outdoors.  Hamid is survived by his wife, Terri, who now serves as president and owner of DMD, his daughters Roya and Parisa, son, Reza, and one of the surprise loves of his life, Casey, who proved that dogs truly are a man’s best friend.
